Processing of casting compound

Casting of 1K and 2K resins as well as foams as a service.

endin – competent processing of casting compounds

endin can do everything that the casting compound can – and much more.

Our mixing and dosing systems are designed to process virtually any casting compound. Different dosing pumps allow for a wide viscosity range, from aqueous to highly viscous (>100,000 mPas).

When dosing with static mixing heads, homogeneous mixing is guaranteed for simple mixing ratios (1:1 to 1:8). Dynamic mixing heads are used for large mixing ratios up to 100:5.

We push technology to its limits!

Furthermore, we are particularly strong when it comes to specific and unique technical challenges. Wherever things get difficult, we take on any dosing-related challenge.

In our in-house application technology laboratory, we can simulate, test, and measure all conditions and processes of potting technology in detail, thus enabling us to implement even complex process developments or optimizations.

Our solution:

Different requirements require different casting compounds. Here, too, both technical performance and cost-effectiveness must be considered.

The formulation influences the properties of the casting compound.

In principle, the chemist or the potting compound producer can  create or influence certain properties of the potting compound through the different composition of the raw materials, such as thermal conductivity, adhesion, elasticity, etc., but also production-relevant parameters such as viscosity, pot life, curing time, etc.

The formulation of the potting compound influences its properties and is therefore one of the key factors defining a potting process as well as the quality and durability of the final product. Conversely, it is crucial to consider these factors in detail during the product development process, especially if the potting process step is an important quality feature or a decisive performance factor of the component or final product, or because this process step often occurs at the end of the (electronics) production chain and does not allow for rework.

General features/advantages of potting compounds

The general advantages of casting compounds are essentially:

Basically different bases are available to cover completely different applications (polyurethanes, epoxies, silicones, etc.)

The consistently liquid medium allows the use of very different materials on the same machine

Almost unlimited possibilities for individual formulation depending on customer requirements

Additional influence on mechanical properties by adding (solid) filler

Can be cast into shape

Customizable in color and feel

Also available transparent and translucent

Uniform logistics through standardized container sizes

endin – competent & reliable

What are endin’s particular strengths?

Our strengths in consulting and product development:

We have been working intensively on this topic for over 30 years and therefore have extensive experience in research, evaluation and processing

At the same time, we have the ability to test and optimize any casting compound and its processing in our application technology laboratory at any time and at short notice.

Material research/recommendation: By mastering the full product life cycle, we consider not only physical properties but also processing and process capability to ensure economical (series) production

We have a database with over 1,500 defined materials/casting compounds as well as very good contacts with the manufacturers and can therefore provide completely neutral casting compound recommendations that represent an optimum between technology and costs.

This means we are able to not only recommend the right and optimal potting compound for the application or the desired component properties, but also, if necessary, provide clear recommendations regarding a component design suitable for potting or production.

Our advice and our offer is completely independent of casting compound manufacturers

In the early stages of development, endin offers to perform a casting pattern simulation even before the first hardware prototypes are available

Our strengths in processing:

endin systems are designed to process any casting compound

Different dosing pumps allow wide viscosity ranges from aqueous to highly viscous (>100,000 mPas)

Static mixing heads typically guarantee homogeneous mixing with simple mixing ratios (1 : 1 to 1 : 8)

For large mixing ratios up to 100 : 5, dynamic mixing heads are used

This allows even very fast reaction casting resins with a pot life of < 1 min to be processed fully automatically

High filler contents > 50% are safely conditioned from material preparation to the outlet from the dosing nozzle

Some highly abrasive fillers are absorbed by special materials or a fair spare parts concept

Fully automatic material conditioning can be individually configured, whether tempering, evacuation, homogenization, etc.

Full material and process control through proven best practices and consistent sensor technology

Dosing under atmosphere as well as under vacuum, as well as upstream and downstream processes can be realized by endin from a single source

Furthermore, we are particularly strong where specific and unique technical challenges arise. Where things get difficult… borderline cases of technology…

In our in-house application technology laboratory, we can simulate, test, and measure all conditions and processes of potting technology in detail, thus enabling us to implement even complex process developments or optimizations.
